National Fraternity's Stance on Legacies
With over 250,000 living members, Sigma Chi is an organization with a rich history of membership that share a strong bond. Many young men grow up with fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or older brothers who were initiated into Sigma Chi wishing to share this bond. Legacies often grow up hearing stories and learning about the lifelong benefits of membership in Sigma Chi. We recognize this circumstance can make the recruitment process complicated, and thus our chapter practices a strict adherence to judging a potential new member based upon their character and whether they live up to the Jordan Standard. Sigma Chi favors no entitlement toward legacies.

Before the recruitment process starts, we recommend Sigma Chi relatives to have an in-depth discussion with their potential new member about the benefits of Sigma Chi, how their experience in a fraternity may differ, and to be open to the recruitment process.

With respect to initiated Sigma Chi's that wish to recommend a potential new member, they can submit a formal recommendation (found below) or contact
legacies@sigmachi.org, the Recruitment Chair, or Consul for more information.
