Welcome to the official website of the Sigma Chi Theta Iota at Saint Louis University. This chapter, founded in 1984, re-colonized on April 25, 2016 and re-chartered as the Theta Iota chapter on November 18th, 2017. Our chapter had grown from a small movement of three students to an organization currently containing more than 40 undergraduate members, and a growing alumni network.
Sigma Chi is a brotherhood with roots in the collegiate experience that engenders a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice, and the fulfillment of learning as part of our overall responsibilities to the broader community in which we live. The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance, and accomplishment of the ideals of Friendship, Justice, and Learning within our membership. The Sigma Chi Fraternity best serves its purpose by developing, implementing, and monitoring programs that foster leadership, build character, and promote positive relationship skills that, in turn, enable our members to become productive and caring participants in their families, colleges, and communities. We are committed to our core values of friendship, justice, and learning. Our vision is to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization at SLU—aligned, focused and living our core values. Our mission is to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community. Sigma Chi offers a host of social life rewards, but it does so in the context of molding good character within its members. Integrity, sound judgement, and loyalty are all lofty goals that can occasionally be found contradictory to the impulses of college life. Sigma Chi provides a continuum of character development that assists young men in developing the qualities of their character.
